TYKS Vakka-Suomi Hospital is part of the Hospital District of Southwest Finland. The main role of the hospital is to provide the population with specialised healthcare services.
The objective is to achieve a proper chain of healthcare services between the basic healthcare, the social welfare sevices, Vakka-Suomi Hospital and Turku University Hospital.
The population base of the somatic line of specialized care is 33.000 people, which enlarges summertime to more than 50 000.
The usual way to attain the treatment is a doctor's referral. The first-aid station is running all-day.
The lines of somatic diseases' treatment are: internal diseases, cardiology, surgery, ortopedics, gynecology and maternity, ear diseases, eye diseases, neurology, pediatrics, pulmonary diseases, dialysis, anesthesiology and pain releaving treatment. Laboratory and radiology services are also included.
4000 integrated treatments are given yearly and the number of policlinical calls is about 27 000.
The hospital has employed some 200 persons of which doctors are 21.
The client fees are charged according to statutory regulation for client fees in social welfare and health care (1309/99).
